Grateful

December 18, 2007

Today is my last day on my current job. I worked at this place for 2 years and 2 months.

I am very grateful for this job. It was the first job that I enjoyed coming to. They showed great support and leniency when I was dealing with my family health issues.

The last two years included some major changes — though any two-year-period of my life contains major changes. It includes stopping and moving out of the house we were building in the country. My father passing away after 3 years with ALS, and being there by his side when he died. The birth of my son and the health crisis that accompanied before he came out. Working on and releasing my album (which was a difficult birth also). Deciding to leave Texas, our home for the last decade.

Yes, that sounds like my life, as usual. It’s been a wild ride, for sure.

I know it’s a cliche, but the only thing constant in life is change. And I like changing, as I’ve always felt that I change for the better. There are many fond memories, but there isn’t a single era in my life that I’d prefer over here and now. It’s always two steps forward and one step back, but looking at a bigger picture, I know I’m still moving and growing. I like me of today better than the me of yesterday.

I must be having a good life. Thank God.
