I’ve noticed that now that it’s gotten warmer, I’m listening to a lot more of mellower music.
Not as much metal. More of folkier music and “sunny day rock.”
One of the way I think of music is that it’s a sound track to the movie that is your life.

My heart goes out to the victims of the recent Akihabara stabbing spree in Tokyo.
Like the school shootings in US, the random acts of violence are on the rise in Japan.
This is turning into a vicious cycle. It goes like this:
A freaky murder/tragedy happens
Media goes frenzy over the coverage, scrutinizing everything
Government or community officials [...]

This is the ideal that I strive to with my songwriting/composition:
Something for everyone.
Now, that doesn’t mean that I’m trying to write songs that appeal to everyone who listens to it. Not in the least. I write songs that I fall in love with.
But the kind of music I fall in love with, often [...]

I feel so happy.
Why?
Because my life is full of engaging challenges. Difficult problems to solve. They are so big and scary, that I have to call up all my resources to tackle them.
But that is life at its best. Not all stress is bad. I feel so blessed, that I am [...]

I recently launched a new blog site. It’s called OurBestVersion.com.
It’s sort of an experiment. You know that I like writing about life — many of my posts about rich lessons that my life has offered me. I’m a musician, but my blogs aren’t always about music.
Well, that side of me is going [...]
